Department store foundation vs. cosmetic counter foundation...HELP!?

They say department store foundations like CG, Loreal, Revlon, Neutrogena etc...all have bad chemicals and ingredients in them that are horrible for your skin.

SO, what type of foundation should I be buying that doesn't have these chemicals and poor ingredients? Cost is really not a ';huge'; deal. I don't want to spend a fortune however if it's comparable to clinique or Lancome prices that is just fine!

THanks SO much! If there's a best answer I will give ten points appropriately! Thanks again and again!Department store foundation vs. cosmetic counter foundation...HELP!?
CG, L'Oreal, Revlon and all them are actually drugstore foundations. Department store foundations are the ones you'll see at the mall, like Clinique, MAC, and such. The thing most people don't realize is that many drugstore brands are sub-divisions of department store brands. L'Oreal is a division of Lancome. I've heard the only difference is the pigment, which can be expensive for companies to add to their products.Department store foundation vs. cosmetic counter foundation...HELP!?
You want to be careful who is telling you that these company have harmful chemicals in them.

A lot of times this is coming from competing makeup companies.

It's not to say that all products are good for your skin, but I would make sure to wash off what ever you're using at the end of the day and you should be fine, even mineral makeup. I'm a makeup artist and wouldn't suggest to any client to sleep in mineral makeup the way the infomercials do.
