Mac cosmetics, when they have names like NC45 or NW30 for foundations n concealers, what does they stand for?

like what would a NW indicate compared to an NC

just curious as i got my new concealer today in colour NW30 and im a latina, and i think i have olive skin so yeah would that make sense to anyone?

thanks!Mac cosmetics, when they have names like NC45 or NW30 for foundations n concealers, what does they stand for?
the nw ones are more pinky toned while the nc are yellow toned.

it really depends on your skin pigment not where your from

eg one latina could be yellow toned while another could have pink tones it varies but if the colour matches it should be fine if you need anymore info email me.

hope i have helped

here is a color chart and its clear that the NW are more pink than the NC

i added this in because i see alot of people have it the wrong way roundMac cosmetics, when they have names like NC45 or NW30 for foundations n concealers, what does they stand for?
i think it varies but for a concealer it would be a good color for latina skin tones maybe a nc for your foundation. Report Abuse

I wear NW30/35 in MAC concealer too!! Um it means that we have pink undertones. People who wear NW means they have yellow undertones.
hmm im not sure but i think n means neutral and c means cool and w means warm

i dont really use foundation but i think you got it right
the N's may stand for nuetral and the c may be cool and the w may be warm.
NW mean warm undertones (yellow or olive)

NC means cool undertones (pinkish)

The numbe is how dark it is, the higher the number, the darker the shade.

The mousse pot ones, Maybeline's Dream matt mousse etc

They leave your skin really soft too
Not really sure what I would recommend to you. There are so many products out there so what I end up doing is starting cheap and trying out several products.I would check out the review site at http://www.brandsmakeup.com visit and read the reviews.
i have problems with previous acne scars and i hate to put too many layers of make up of too many products. and i found this miracle : Revlon Colorstay. It makes my skin flawless. its almost summer in Australia and I need foundation that will stay on my oily skin without sliding off my face on a hot day. this is the solution. it won't rub on clothes, it makes your skin flawless as long as possible, its pretty much natural looking, and the coverage is PERFECT! i dont need a seperate concealer when i use this product. just foundation, blotting powder and i'm good to go! recommended!
    Minerals by Maybelline
MAC foundations provides the most coverage because they are thick and it was meant for photoshoots and stage performance in the first place. However the downfall is that because they are thick, it can clog pores and cause acne. I use it only on certain days when I want to look my best.

I have heard that revlon colorstay and some of the clinique foundations are very good as well.
i have found this great stuff, its 15.99 and its called Physicians Formula, works like a dream and actually helps your face, not give you acne from using make-up!

try it, i don't no if they sell it where you live, but they should since i live in the middle of know wheres ann they sell it!

Can someone tell me which is the best cosmetic foundation???

i think maxfactor are good ...Can someone tell me which is the best cosmetic foundation???
I think the best is The Body Shop's ultra smooth face base, it's creamy and finishes as a powder, it includes Community Trade marula oil and I feel is the best by far, have tried all the others including the very expensive one's and found this to be the best. Can someone tell me which is the best cosmetic foundation???
I really like Everyday Minerals. It is all natural so it doen't have any of those nasty chemicals that aggrivate acne or cause cancer. It feels great and covers extremely well. And it lasts all day! You can get free samples at their website (with a small shipping fee). Just go to www.everydayminerals.com
    Playsticks by Benefit
Bare Escentuals or a similar mineral foundation. I'd simply never use anything else.
    Mary Kay creme to powder
i wud suggest the avon mousse one cus i av dat an it is my best one and i wud sugest it any1 cus it onli costs a fiver as well
If you can afford it try this Repechage foundation, it's really good for the skin plus it's all natural made with seaweed.

If you can't use BEYOND COLOR Line Softening Mousse Foundation
I use Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish (radiant moisture). This is really good if you have dry skin.
I personally think Revlon Skin Tint is the best foundation I have ever worn and I have tried a lot. I occasionally have break-outs but I prefer to wear this really light foundation as it still evens out my skin-tone and is oil-free. It is illuminating and yet looks as if I'm not wearing any make-up. It also has SPF 15 and is a reasonable price. Feels light and gives my skin a gorgeous glow. Highly recommended.
It all depends on your skin tones, your skin type, your budget.

Revlon, L'oreal, Maybelline, Maxfactor, Almay and Covergirl are all good drugstore brands.

MAC, Estee Lauder, Prescriptives, Clinque, Bare Minerals, MaryKay are all good reasonably expensive brands.
i use maybeline pure makeup..the one with 50% water.its got good coverage and it doesnt clog up my skin....its actually helped clear my skin better than other makeup.....neutragena works good too..
L'oreal Bare Naturale Foundation is great
no competition , its ID Bare Escentuals . Its pure mineral powder foundation , light as a feather with great coverage . Its salon only though, so i get it from QVC
It really depends on what skin type you have and how much coverage you want. I personally love everyday minerals. The foundation, eyeshadows, and blushes are great. They offer free samples on their webite too.
Definatelly MAC, but ask a professional to help u choose the right shade and product for u, plus ask how u can aply it urself at home. They'll give u some great tips
I have used several over the years but I like Estee Lauder foundation. You can put it on in the morning and forget about your skin. It is worth the few pounds extra. There is a range for every skin type.
    Estee Lauder
Estee Lauder. Just get some, try it and you will never have to ask that question again. All the women in my family use Maximum Cover and I use Double Wear which has medium coverage. Both are unbelievable and you are sure to be thrilled with the results. I answered a similar question to this one a few weeks ago and got best answer because the asker tried this range and says she will never look back. Team it up with Clinique pressed powder for ultimate results. You won't even have to give a thought to other foundations again. Trust me on this.
    MAC hands down.....
    MaryKay has very good matches

    I like mineral foundation.

    puritycosmetics.co.uk is a good brand.
i fell that Artistry has the best line of not only foundation put all makeup
Facefinity by max factor. It won't wash off in the rain! So tearing up is not a problem. Just add powder to make it matte or leave alone for that dewy look
i use max factor colour adapt and i swear by it. It gives you a matt finish and really even out skin tone.

And any blemishes or impurities are near enough gone with out using a concealer i love it!!!
Go for Benefit, Without doubt the best.

Im writing a report on cosmetic foundation and i need to know the bad things about it! can you please help?

ask to try some on your inner elbow and see if any rashes occur after 24 hours.

Personally I was allergic to it but its not the same for every skin type, so try it before you buy the whole lot.
Hard to say as your skin is not the same as mine.

Almay is the make up for sensitive skins can recommend.

Lancome skin care ok for me - make up unknown.

Max factor ok for me - definitely NOT revlon

    Vichy good for me too.
unfortunately not all high market products are good especially skin products. oftentimes you are paying the name and not the product itself. such products may contain chemicals that could easily irritate skin especially those that are sensitive. best to check the ingredients and try the samples and see. but the truth of the matter is that one will only find the suitable skin product for them after making many mistakes before finding the right one. just steer clear of the ones with perfume and artificial colorings
